Founded on March 1st, 2025 CBH draws from 10 years of research, teaching, and public outreach initiatives conducted at Kozminski University.

2015 First historical Case studies

Our historical research began within a project led by Prof. Dominika Latusek-Jurczak devoted to developing teaching case studies about Polish companies. We wrote 20 cases in total, most of them historical.

2017 First edition of the “Business History” elective course

Launch of the course Business History: Legendary Entrepreneurs and Long-Lived Companies by Tomasz Olejniczak and Anna Pikos. Since then, the course has attracted over 400 students in total.

The team receives its first international research grant from the Japan Foundation entitled: “Organizational Continuity: Comparative study of oldest companies in Japan and Poland”

2018 First research grant from Japan Foundation
2019 Hosting WBHCEE Workshop and Establishment of the Business History Division

We have a privilege to host the First WBHCEE Workshop and establish the Business History Division within the Department of Management.

2020 Miniatura Research Grant to study longevity

Researcher Anna Pikos receives a National Science Center (NCN) Miniatura grant entitled: “Longevity factors of Polish companies”

2021 First outreach activities Covid report

Despite the pandemic, the first public outreach initiatives are launched, including a report on COVID-19’s impact on business.

2022 First paper published in Business History

Our article about narratives in corporate histories is accepted for publication in the leading international journal Business History.

2023 First Doctoral student – Radosław Milczarski from BGK Polish Development Bank

Radosław Milczarski (BGK) becomes the first doctoral student in business history at Kozminski University. He is realizing an applied PhD devoted to strategic management of the historical resource in Polish Development Bank.

2016 Presentation at 1st World Congress on Business History

2024 Hosting ICA SBA Business Archives Conference for the first time in Poland

BGK in partnership with Kozminski University co-host the first-ever ICA SBA conference in Poland, bringing together more than 50 business archivists from around the world.

2025 International Grant and Establishment of the Center

We secure our first international research grant funded under WEAVE UNISONO framework. The Center for Business History is formally established in March 2025 by decision of the Senate and Rector.
